A high level chemistry camp for high school students, named APEX Chemistry 2026, will be organized this summer, in Bucharest, Romania.
The camp takes place between July 23rd and August 12th, 2026.
APEX Scientific, a Romanian-French non-profit cooperation in the field of advanced education in Mathematics and Chemistry, proposes a three-week intensive camp for those interested in the deep study of Chemistry, during which students will familiarize themselves with the ABC of scientific research in the field.
”The participants – a maximum number of 20 – will be able to experience the world of research from within, as they will explore new chemical concepts under the guidance of top internationally recognized university professors and PhD students.

Free time activities are also foreseen, in order for the participants to discover Bucharest, the capital city of Romania.

Jean Pierre Sauvage, Nobel Prize winner in 2016, among the lecturers
As expected, lecturers will be renowned experts and researchers. Among them, the most known is Jean Pierre Sauvage (picture above), emeritus professor at the University of Strasbourg, France, winner of the Nobel Prize in 2016. Mr Sauvage is also Doctor Honoris Causa Scientiarum at the West University of Timișoara.
Other lecturers: Alan Saghatelian, (professor, Clayton Foundation Laboratories for Peptide Biology, USA), Ivan Huc (professor at Ludwig-Maximilians Universität München), Niculina Hădade (Babeș-Bolyai University of Cluj-Napoca), Mihaela Matache (University of Bucharest), Mihaela Florea (National Institute for Materials Physics, Bucharest) and Codruța Popescu (University of Bucharest).
Daniel Funeriu, former Romanian Minister of Education, graduate of the University of Strasbourg, France, PhD in chemistry and researcher, will speak to the students, as did the same at APEX Chemistry 2025.
What interested students also need to know
In order to be admitted to this high-level Chemistry camp, high school students must pass a test. The test and the application form can be downloaded here. (Please see the link at the bottom right of the page). ”We are very interested in seeing how you think the solutions and do not worry if you can’t solve all of them”, organizers says.
Applications can only be submitted by email. The deadline is April 19th, 2026.
APEX Chemistry is designed for students who will graduate at least 10th grade in the school year 2025-2026, or have gained basic knowledge of organic chemistry. More facts about the topics studied can be found on APEX Scientific webpage, here .
During the 3 weeks camp, the students will be accommodate in facilities of the University of Bucharest. Indicative price at your charge is EUR 1700 per student. ”This is made possible by very generous support from our sponsors and partners; the real cost of the event being in fact much higher, the difference being generously covered by our sponsors”, organizers stated.
The price includes: the Chemistry courses, laboratories and seminars, accommodation for the entire period of the camp, three meals a day, goodie bag (including Chemistry lab coat), free internet access on the campus, some free time activities.
